As part of the Montroy DeMarco Architecture team, I am currently working on the redevelopment of a portion of the massive, 1.1 million s/f USPS Morgan General Mail Facility in Manhattan for Tishman Speyer. Redesigning such an enormous building involves addressing multiple logistical and technical challenges. For example, there are numerous unforeseen conditions that our team has to address expeditiously and with consideration of the cost. The designers are interacting with a large team of both experienced private developers and U.S. Postal Service executives representing interests of their federal agency. The design work has been split into five phases to meet the schedule and budget needs of the client and future tenants. Modernizing this iconic property is very rewarding.
