New York Real Estate Journal 2021 Ones to Watch Spotlight

Name: Thomas Yeh

Title: MDA Job Captain

Company Name: Montroy DeMarco Architecture

Real estate associations or organizations that you are currently a member of: AIA of NY and volunteering for non-profit organizations supported by our firm’s employees, including the Gods Love We Deliver soup kitchen in Manhattan.

What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of?
There are several recent projects I am particularly proud of, including the redevelopment of 30 Broad St. in Manhattan’s Financial District. The project’s goal was attracting new tenants and increasing rent roles for the landlord. Our team redesigned the lobby and entrance, added a striking landscaped canopy, upgraded other public areas, and designed three standards for pre-built offices and multiple custom workspaces. Our work continues with new custom and pre-built offices for new tenants. My other very interesting current projects are the on-going tenant amenity spaces at 100 William St. and 100 Wall St. in Manhattan, both representing the new trend of landlords offering extensive shared employee amenities to attract commercial tenants. These comfortable and attractive spaces feature extended pantries and coffee bars, lounge areas, and meeting suites.

How do you keep your team motivated despite conflicts and obstacles?
A collaborative and supportive spirit is an important part of our firm’s culture. The firm’s partners lead by example, allowing younger employees to grow professionally and exercise their creative talents, while teaching them the business and interpersonal skills necessary to succeed in the design industry. I follow the example of the partners by interacting with teams on my projects with fairness, a positive attitude, and supportive and calm approach to resolving issues.
