Earthjustice
Earthjustice is a non-profit public interest organization based in the U.S. dedicated to litigating environmental issues. They represent a wide variety of clients, from grassroots and community groups, to large national organizations. Montroy Andersen DeMarco was the Interior Designer and Project Manager for both Earthjustice and the landlord, 48 Wall LLC, for their newly completed 14,499 RSF, New York Headquarters located on the 15th floor at 48 Wall Street in the Financial District. The office space features 25 private offices, 3 conference rooms, open-plan areas, a reception lobby, break room and wellness room. The organization also has an administrative office located on the 19th floor. Privacy was a major concern, Earthjustice needed to have optimal acoustically sound private offices due to the confidentially of the work. Since this was a landlord built-out, one of the project’s primary challenge was balancing Earthjustice’s preferences and requirements with the landlord’s budget. MADGI also developed the standards eventually used to build out the offices. Printed art on stretched canvases was hung on the walls throughout the space. Earthjustice wanted the images to depict the environment’s impact on people. Inspiration for some of the murals in the conference rooms came from New York State Parks like the Adirondacks, Catskills and Palisades. These nature-themed elements and colors created a calm and inviting space. Some of the wall art included cases Earthjustice helped win over the years. The large conference room features a new custom silver tree forest pattern film for privacy.
